Look these up and add them

How about the promises of being content (Philippians 4:12), or being

given the peace of Jesus (John 14:27), or the fruit of the Spirit

(Galatians 5:22-23) - can we really "do everything through Him who gives

me strength," (Philippians 4:13). Parents, have we given up hope for

our children or do we believe: "Train a child in the way he should go,

and when he is old he will not turn from it," (Proverbs 22:6).

 

Whenever we feel unworthy or unable to follow His leading - whenever we feel we can no longer stand - we have surely begun to look at our self and our own strength rather than God:


He Alone Gives us the Strength to Stand.

"Now it is God who makes both us and you stand firm in Christ," 

2 Corinthians 1:21  


Persevere in Prayer

"Then Jesus told his disciples a parable to show them that they should always pray and not give up."

Luke 18:1


Pray with confidence

"Let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need."

Hebrews 4:16


Resist the devil

"Submit yourselves then to God.  Resist the devil, and he will flee from you."

James 4:7


Allow God to Work

"Commit your way to the Lord, trust in Him and He will do..."

Psalm 37:5


Pray Specifically

"And my God will meet all your needs according to His glorious riches in Christ Jesus"

Philippians 4:19

"Do not be anxious about anything but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God"

Pray in Jesus' Name

"And I will do whatever you ask in My name, so that the Son may bring glory to the Father.  You may ask Me for anything in My name, and I will do it."

Pray in Faith

"Have faith in God," Jesus answered. "I tell you the truth, if anyone says to this mountain: Go, throw yourself into the sea, and does not doubt in his heart but believes that what he says will happen, it will be done for him.  Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours."

Pray According to God's Promises

"For no matter how many promises God has made, they are "Yes: in Christ.  And so through Him the "Amen" is spoken by us to the glory of God."

2 Corinthians 1:20


Don't try to dictate to God

"For My thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways My ways," declares the Lord.  "As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts."

Isaiah 55:8-9


God is Almighty

"...and His incomparably great power for us who believe.  That power is like the working of his mighty strength which He exerted in Christ when He raised Him from the dead and seated Him at His right hand in the heavenly realms, and dominion, and every title that can be given, not only in the present age but also in the one to come."

Ephesians 1:19-21


Pray According to God's Will

"This is the assurance we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to Hi will, He hears us.  And if we know that He hears us, whatever we asked, we know that we have what we asked of Him."

1 John 5:14-15


Pray With expectation

"Call to Me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know."

Jeremiah  33:3


Praise and Thank God for Answers

"Shout for joy to the Lord, all the earth, serve the Lord with gladness..."

Psalm  100


Obey God, and Live a Holy Life

"Dear friends, if our hearts do not condemn us, we have confidence before God and receive from Him anything we ask, because we obey His commands and do what pleases Him."

1 John 3:21-22


Confess and Break with All Conscious and Unconfessed Sin

"If anyone turns a deaf ear to the law, even his prayers are detestable...  He who conceals his sins does not prosper but whoever confesses and renounces them finds mercy."

Proverbs 28:9 ; 28:13


Pray Fervently and Earnestly

"The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective."

James 5:16


Boasting

 

"This is what the Lord says:  'Let not the wise man boast of his wisdom or the strong man boast of his strength, or the rich man boast of his riches, but let him who boasts boast about this: 

 that he understands and knows me, that I am the Lord, who exercises kindness, justice and righteousness on earth, for in these I delight, declares the Lord.'"

Jeremiah 9:23-24   


"Bear with each other and forgive whatever grievances you may have against one another. Forgive as the Lord forgave you."

Colossians 3:13


We seldom realize how harmful and discouraging our words can be: 
"Like a madman shooting firebrands or deadly arrows is a man who deceives his
neighbor and says, 'I was only joking!'" 

(Proverbs 26:18-19)

Sarcastic and joking words are "deadly arrows" which are never useful for "building others up." 

Over time, this mode of communication is sure to
destroy a relationship.


No person is worthy of God's grace, and even Jeremiah was told by God that he must repent

"Therefore this is what the Lord says: 'If you repent, I will restore you that you may serve me; if you utter worthy, not worthless words, you will be my spokesperson. Let this people turn to you, but you must not turn to them.'" 

(Jeremiah 15:19)



Does God punish His people today? Here in Jeremiah, God says that He withdrew his blessing, love and pity from His people.

"For this is what the Lord says: 'Do not enter a house where there is a funeral meal; do not go to mourn or show sympathy, because I have withdrawn my blessing, my love and my pity from this people,' declares the Lord. Both high and low will die in this land. They will not be buried or mourned, and no one will cut himself or shave his head for them." 

(Jeremiah 17:5-7)


Here God says that he will throw His people out of their land, but He also says that He will show them no pity. 

"So I will throw you out of this land into a land neither you nor your fathers have known, and there you will serve other gods day and night, for I will show you no favour." 

(Jeremiah 16:13)



"Better is one day in Your courts than a thousand elsewhere; I would
rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God than dwell in the tents of
the wicked."

Psalm 84:10


"My soul yearns, even
faints, for the courts of the Lord; my heart and my flesh cry out for
the living God" 

(Psalm 84:2)


"Enter His gates with thanksgiving and His courts with praise" 

(Psalm 100:4)


"Don't you know that you yourselves
are God's temple and that His Spirit lives in you" 

(1 Corinthians 3:16)
